The Friends of Andersonville, a 501(c)(3)
organization, was conceived to provide support to Andersonville
National Historic Site on an ever-increasing scale. This dedicated
group of volunteers works closely with the staff of Andersonville
National Historic Site to foster public understanding of the role
that Camp Sumter (Andersonville) Military Prison played
in our nation's history, as well as that of all former American POWs. The
Friends provide assistance through direct funding of such things as interpretive
programs, museum exhibits, and needed equipment that otherwise could not
be obtained by the park. Funds are raised by various methods, which include
donations, direct solicitation, sales items, and membership dues.
